Specializing is important for any creature. The same way a human is a social being and requires interaction with humans to achieve success is the same way dogs require socialization to lead a beneficial life.

Dog socialization is a prerequisite in every Dog’s life. Experts advise that every dog be incorporated into a socialization plan after their 7th-week birthday. Starting early helps the dog learn the tenets and intricacies of socialization without anxiety and confusion. A well-socialized dog can interact with humans and dogs alike, knowing what to do at any given time.

Socialization teaches dogs what’s appropriate for any given situation. The awareness of various smells and environments helps a dog to react positively, without fear or anxiety.

A poorly socialized dog can be harmful to humans and other dogs. An unsocialized dog is prone to social anxiety, especially around other dogs, which could lead to violent communication or worse, a dog fight.

While fighting is part of socialization, it isn’t what you want your dog to pick up during the process. This brings us to ‘how to properly socialize your dog’.

Socializing a dog requires a controlled environment, like a dog daycare. A new dog thrown into an uncontrolled environment will result in higher anxiety and negative behaviors, that may stick for life.

A dog daycare will follow your dog’s progress, introducing new stimuli and environments as your dog progresses. Below is how a dog daycare achieves dog socialization.

1. Acquaints dogs with new situations.

Imagine being thrown into a new setting, something you’ve never experienced in your life. You’ll be disorientated for a couple of minutes or even hours. That’s how it is with dogs. However, dogs act differently. A dog might become aggressive if she doesn’t understand what her response should be. Therefore, we must introduce our puppies to new situations, but in a controlled environment, like a dog daycare.

2. Introduces your dog to other pets

Just like humans are social animals, dogs too are social, even more, social than humans. A pup that grows in isolation from other dogs might find it difficult to relate to animals and even humans. Dog daycare is perfect for introducing your pup to other dogs. Avoid taking a new dog to the park without stimulating interaction in a controlled environment. Doing otherwise could lead to aggression.

Dog daycares help your pup prepare for the life ahead. And specialization is one of the ways we achieve that.
